Yihua Unifi to Introduce 100% Recycled yarn to China Market  Textile News Article Posted October 29, 2007

Textile Industry News

Unifi, Inc. (NYSE: UFI) and Yihua Unifi Fibre Industry Company will officially introduce Repreve, the first recycled polyester yarn to achieve third party certification for 100% recycled content, to the Chinese market at the 2007 Intertextile Shanghai Apparel fabrics Show.

Repreve recycled yarns have been independently certified by Scientific Certification Systems, (SCS), a leading third-party auditor, certifier and standards developer, that is considered to be the gold standard for environmental content and practices. The SCS certification provides independent verification that recycled content claims are accurate and documented.

The Repreve family of recycled yarns is created from both post and pre-consumer waste, thus reducing energy consumption and conserving petroleum resources by offsetting the need to produce virgin polyester. The production of Repreve eliminates six steps required to produce the raw materials for polyester, conserving approximately 135,000 BTU's of energy per kilo. This is equivalent to 4.17 liters of petrol.  The launch of the Repreve product into the Chinese market enhances our ability to supply brands and retailers globally, says Roger Berrier, executive vice president of sales, marketing and Asian operations for Unifi.  Our global supply network will maintain first quality standards and consistency across continents, thus providing international customers with solutions for split or balanced sourcing strategies.

Additionally, this launch represents Yihua Unifi's commitment to environmental sustainability, said Hongjun Ning, senior sales and marketing manager for Yihua Unifi. Repreve will help support our domestic Chinese partners initiatives to provide environmentally responsible products.

To satisfy this growing demand for value-added yarns, Repreve is also available as part of Unifi's aio (all-in-one performance) yarn family, as aio Repreve . Unifi can permanently engineer the benefits of Sorbtek moisture management and/or Reflexx performance stretch within Repreve , resulting in a 100% recycled yarn with permanent performance.

Please visit Yihua Unifi at booth W1D02-04 in Hall 1 for additional information on Repreve and how you can make an environmental difference. The Intertextile Shanghai Apparel fabrics Show will be held October 29  November 1, 2007 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Shanghai, China.
