The Fashion and Textile Museum (London)

The Fashion and Textile Museum is a cutting edge centre for contemporary fashion, textiles and jewellery in London. Founded by iconic British designer Zandra Rhodes, the centre houses permanent and changing exhibitions exploring elements of fashion, textile and jewellery as well as the Academy which runs courses for creative students and businesses, and the fabulous The Café @ FTM.

Situated in the heart of fashionable Bermondsey Village, in a fantastic building designed by Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta, the FTM aims not just to display and collect items relating to fashion, jewellery and textile design, but to offer inspiration to a new generation of creatives. Now redeveloped and operated by Newham College, the museum is a hub of learning, ideas and networking for the fashion and jewellery industry.

About the Academy at FTM

The Academy @ FTM is a unique London-based hub for education and professional development within the fashion industries. It offers a wide-reaching education program for school, college and university students, and an innovative business support program for companies operating in the fashion sector. And they are constantly developing too - responding to the changing skills needs of the industry.

As part of Newham College, the Academy has access to high quality educational resources including professional staff with real industry know-how. They have also developed great links to key industry organizations, businesses and practitioners, along with other specialist training providers and business support organizations. All of which means they are a one-stop shop for education, skills and development program which meet the specific needs of the fast-moving fashion industry - and the people who work in it.
