Tan-thru swimsuits use micro-perforated "tan-through" fabric that allows sunlight to reach the skin beneath the suit, minimizing tan lines while the weave remains visually opaque. It is the same concept as solar tan-thru suits, from various manufacturers.
The technology works: thousands of microscopic holes pass UV while the fabric reads as solid. Expect reduced — not eliminated — tan lines, developing gradually over several wears. Sunscreen under the suit is still essential; the UV that tans also burns. Lighter colors can be marginally more revealing when the fabric stretches, so consider darker shades or prints for maximum discretion.
Strap and edge lines will still appear faintly — physics has limits. The tan-through effect needs direct sun over time; it will not transform you in one afternoon. And perforated fabric is inherently more delicate than solid knit.
Hand wash only, dry in shade, avoid snags on jewelry and rough surfaces. Rinse immediately after salt or chlorinated water — the perforations give chemicals more surface to attack.
