Page 3: the blog family and guide pages developed by the Apparel Search Company

Below are additional fashion-relevant websites developed by the Apparel Search Company - page 3 of the series. Where page 1 listed the reading and people sites and page 2 the working infrastructure, this page is dominated by blogs: the family's blogspot-era publications, each with its own name, subject and voice, plus three of the guide's own subject pages that were listed here as destinations in their own right.

Some of these are industry guides, some are fashion blogs, some are directories in blog form. They are kept together here because they were presented together: a snapshot of how the company published in the years when a blog was the fastest way to put a fashion subject on the web.

The Blog Family

The outward links in the references below are this page's entries: NY Fashion, Fashion Blogger, Style Blog, Fashionista News - a blogspot publication whose name promises the celebrity-and-trends angle - Fashion Salad, the apparel-magazine blogspot that also absorbed FashionBlog.us, and Blog About Fashion, the apparel-search blogspot. Six blogs, six slightly different promises, all fashion.

Running several small blogs rather than one large one let each keep a narrow promise. A reader of a style blog and a reader of a fashionista news blog want different mornings; separate titles let each publication serve its reader without diluting the other, and let the company test which voices the audience actually followed.

Guide Pages Listed Here

Three entries on this page are not separate sites at all but major subject pages of Apparel Search itself, linked at the top: Color Trends, the guide's color forecasting subject; Fabric Search, the fabric section's search page; and LA Fashion, the guide to the Los Angeles fashion industry. Their presence on this page is a reminder that the boundary between 'site' and 'section' in this family has always been porous.

A subject with its own domain and the same subject as a section of the main guide are two ways of giving a topic a home. This page's list mixes both without apology, because from the reader's side they answer the same need: a named place to go for color, for fabric, for Los Angeles fashion.

Onward to Page 4

More of the company's websites wait on page 4: the subject directories - children's and women's fashion, factories, technology, textiles, machinery, trims, boutiques and wholesale - and the record of which family sites were closed, sold or merged, with their dates. The series block at the bottom of this page links all four pages.

Suggestions about any of the family's sites have always been welcome, on this page as on the others: some sites are in early stages and others more advanced, and improvements continue when time is available.

Common Questions

Which websites are listed on page 3?

The blog family - NY Fashion, Fashion Blogger, Style Blog, Fashionista News, Fashion Salad and Blog About Fashion - plus the Color Trends, Fabric Search and LA Fashion guide pages.

Why does this page list Apparel Search sections as websites?

Because the list was always a reader's map rather than a corporate register: major subject pages such as Color Trends, Fabric Search and LA Fashion were presented alongside the separate blog sites as destinations in their own right.

Where does the list continue?

Page 4, linked in the series block below, lists the subject directories and the family sites that closed or were sold, with dates.
