The Company Description of Its Time

This company is kept as a historical profile, and the historical record says why at the top: Glam Mode Media, Inc., formerly Project Y and Glam Media, was a digital lifestyle media company, and on 15 September 2016 Mode Media abruptly shut down its operations. Everything that follows in the filing is labelled historical reference, and this rebuild preserves it in that frame. In its trading years Glam described itself as one of the fastest growing women's fashion and entertainment web networks, built around Glam.com - a combination of fashion and celebrity editorial with embedded e-commerce and an immersive advertising experience.

A First-Generation Web Hub

The business model followed from that question. Fashion sites joined the network for access to additional advertising revenue; Glam empowered publishers and content creators, from indie publishers to major traditional media companies, to reach target audiences by monetising with top brand advertisers. The filing even records that Apparel Search itself gave the Glam Media advertising network a test in 2007 - a small, honest detail that ties this directory to the network it describes. Glam is characterised as one of the first-generation 'Web Hubs': unlike a portal, which consumers visit directly as a destination, or an advertising network, which provides aggregate buying, Glam worked alongside the web's shift toward distributed publishing.

Four kept news items date the network's public life in this directory, all from July 2007: Marie Claire and Glam.com announcing the winner of a Design a Handbag competition on July 30th, Glam Media tapping MKC to tout its new media model on July 24th, Karin Marke joining as Vice President of Sales on July 14th, and Glam.com announcing its Annual Beauty Awards winners on July 10. Their links are carried below, alongside the directory's own glam fashion term page. Together they show a company whose news was about partnerships, people and awards - the currency of a media network rather than a product range.
