Turkey Clothing Industry Overview

Garment making is the first cluster on this page, and it is concentrated in Istanbul. APS Textile&Trade Inc. serves from sourcing fabric and client relations to ready-to-wear products, produces 4,5 million pieces a year with 700 employees in its headquarters plant, and names the labels on its current production, among them Banana Republic, Next, H&M, Liz Claiborne, French Connection, Ann Taylor and Esprit. BJ Textile, among the largest casualwear manufacturers in Turkey at 200 000 pieces per month, specializes in skirts, shorts, jeans, jackets, cargoes and all kinds of top and bottom casualwear for business partners mainly from Western Europe and the USA. Alatas Tekstil, established in 1985, manufactures and exports ready-made clothes made from woven for men, women and children at a monthly capacity of 300.000 units, rendering service to major US and European companies. At the specialist end, Beyhanlar has produced shirts for men, women and children since 1982 and now makes its own brand under the label of Beyhan, Arma Style manufactures women's fashion, and ABC Tekstil in Denizli manufactures terry robes and terry fabric, listing towels, bathrobes and terry fabric in rolls.

Yarn is the second and deepest cluster, because the garment factories above sit on top of a spinning industry that sells to the whole trade. Cotton yarn comes from Birteks Sakarya yarn, a 100 percent cotton yarn factory with 270.000 kgs/month capacity making super combed and carded ring yarn from Aegean standard 1 cotton, from Basak Tekstil in Kayseri with Open End, Carded and Combed yarns from NE 6/1 up to NE 105/1 plus slub yarn and core yarn with Dupont Lycra, and from Byska Tekstil in Gaziantep at 12 tons of cotton yarn per day in carded and combed knitting and weaving counts. Acrylic yarn comes from Ataoglu Textile Company, with kamgarn type acrylic and acrylic blended yarns at approximately 20-23 tones of daily capacity plus fancy and chenille yarn, and from Bulut Tekstil, manufacturing acrylic thread between Ne 12 and Ne 40 at 30 tons/day from 37.600 spindles. A buyer sourcing finished garments from this page chooses first between making through an agent, a CMT factory and a full manufacturer.
