The Company Description of Its Time

Charlotte Russe is a growing, mall-based specialty retailer of fashionable, value-priced apparel and accessories. They have been in the fashion game with their flagship brand Charlotte Russe since 1975, and over four decades later Peek Kids is part of their family - described as the go-to source for super stylish, premium quality clothing for girls, boys and baby (children's ranges are noted here in product terms only, as this directory's rule requires). The customer is defined precisely: focused on women ranging from their teens to early twenties, the store offered customers access to major fashion trends at value-oriented prices.

The 2007-2008 Strategic Review, As Recorded

The second half is a dated corporate record, kept whole with its dates because it is the filing's most distinctive content. In 2007, the Board of Directors initiated a comprehensive review of strategy and operations and determined, with the assistance of experienced third-party retail consultants, that significant changes were necessary to improve operational performance and build greater value for stockholders. In November 2008 a new management team was assembled: John D. Goodman was named Chief Executive Officer, Emilia Fabricant was named President and Chief Merchandising Officer, and Frederick G. Silny was named Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and Corporate Secretary, joining Edward Wong, Chief Operating Officer, and Sandra Tillett, Executive Vice President, Store Operations.

The strategic plan's five planks are listed here in their original order: Brand Positioning - further identifying the customer's lifestyle and shopping preferences and redefining brand image and visibility. Merchandise Assortment - redefining product selection with greater emphasis on trend-right fashion and value for sophisticated shoppers. Inventory Optimization - improving productivity throughout the buying, planning and allocation process and resetting receipt flow and markdown cadence. Real Estate Strategy - determining optimal store size, locations, layout and design and allocation of resources across the fleet. Capital Utilization - instilling a more disciplined, return-oriented approach to capital allocation, with tools, metrics and procedures to improve visibility. The head office address, as recorded: Charlotte Russe Holding Inc., 4645 Morena Boulevard, San Diego, CA 92117, phone (858) 587-1500.
