How to Tie a Tie

Men's Ties

Ties are easy to tie only if you actually know how to tie them.

If your not accustomed to doing it on a regular basis it could get a bit tricky.  However, once you get the hang of it, you will find that it is rather easy.  Their are several different methods to consider when knotting your tie.  If you are not super into the concept of staying ultra trendy, just pick one method and stick with it.

A necktie, or simply a tie, is a piece of cloth worn for decorative purposes around the neck, resting under the shirt collar and knotted at the throat, and often draped down the chest.  The tie length should reach down to the waist.  In the opinion of Apparel Search, the tip of the tie should sit directly above the belt line.

The super hard trick when tying a tie.

Their is an incredibly fine balance when lining up the front "wide" and the back "slimmer" blade of the tiem.

For the most part manufacturers are rather consistent in regard to the length of a tie.  They are commonly 57 inches in length.  The unfortunate reality of mankind is that men are not all a consistent height.  If our torso is different, we obviously can't all size up the tie in the exact same way.

When putting the tie on, it is ideal to have the tip of the tie reach the top of the belt but also have enough of the tie on the back end to reach the keeper loop that you will find on the back of the tie.  The keeper loop helps keep the two ends of the tie together.  You don't want the smaller end flopping around.

When the wide part of the tie is shorter than the narrow end of the time, you will look silly.  So, try your best to not let that happen.

Using a pair of scissors to fix your tie length is probably not the best idea (unless you are a tailor or seamstress).

Here is a brief quiz.  And we are kindly giving you the answers.
