The U section of the Apparel Search fashion company directory brings together five very different names: a sheepskin boot icon, a century-old English football brand, an American performance apparel pioneer, a Philadelphia lifestyle retail group, and the United States fashion industry's trade association.
Few letters gather such different businesses. UGG Australia turned an Australian surfer's sheepskin boot into a global comfort-footwear brand owned by Deckers Brands. Umbro, founded in Wilmslow in 1924, is the page football kit maker, the brand that dressed World Cup winners. Under Armour began in 1996 with a single moisture-wicking shirt idea from a University of Maryland football captain.
Urban Outfitters grew from a small 1970 Philadelphia shop across from the University of Pennsylvania into URBN, the group behind Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People and Nuuly. The United States Fashion Industry Association represents the brands, retailers, importers and wholesalers behind the industry in Washington, working on the trade barriers that shape what fashion costs.
U also holds one of this directory's most colorful corners: the UGG Boot Colors guide, with a page for each of sixteen classic boot colors - from Chestnut, the shade that defined the boot, through fashion colors such as Mystic Purple, Ribbon Red and Highland Green. Each color page describes the shade, how to wear it, and how to care for colored suede.
