A flat lay of women's clothing and accessories from brands beginning with G - tailored suiting, bold printed silk, denim jeans, golf apparel and a luxury leather handbag arranged together with a small Apparel Search shopping bag, product photography with no people and no mannequins

Welcome to the G section of the Women's Fashion Brands directory. In this area of the fashion brand directory you will find women's fashion brands from leading apparel companies and fashion designers that begin with the letter G: 8 brand profiles in all, gathered in the grid below. When browsing this directory you will find some of the most stylish clothing and hottest fashion labels in the world of ladies fashion - and in this letter, two of Italy's defining houses, a Florentine leather dynasty, two denim stories and a golf collection, with two listings whose records are silent and are kept honest.

If you know of an important women's fashion brand that begins with the letter G and is not listed in this section, please let us know. And if you prefer to search by clothing category rather than by a specific clothing brand, the Clothes Guide linked from this page organises the same wardrobe by garment instead of by name.

Eight Brands, From Milan Boutiques to the Golf Course

The letter opens with Generra - one of this letter's two brands with no documented history, and its page shows a researcher where to dig instead. Gianni Versace follows in full colour: Giovanni Maria Versace opened his Milan boutique in 1978 and became a sensation with vivid colors, bold prints and sexy cuts against an era of muted simplicity, inventing the super-light chainmail Oroton in 1982. Giorgio Armani is the letter's counterweight - an Italian designer known for clean, tailored lines, who formed his company, Armani, in 1975, and built a women's wardrobe in tailoring's language.

Giovanni Navarre is the second, listed between Armani and Girbaud with a record as empty of history as Generra's; its page keeps the listing and its A-to-Z directory row. Girbaud restores the record: Marithé + François Girbaud, an international clothing company based in France, founded by stylists François Girbaud and Marithé Bachellerie in 1972, selling the whole wardrobe from women's jeans and printed T-shirts to elegant dresses, shoes and accessories. Greg Norman takes the letter outdoors - a collection established in 1992, inspired by the golf professional they call 'The Shark', built on performance, luxury and style in golf-inspired apparel for men and women.

Two of fashion's biggest names close the letter. Gucci was founded by Guccio Gucci in Florence in 1921, on a leather trade with beginnings at the end of the 19th century, and became one of the world's most successful manufacturers of high-end leather goods and clothing - an Italian luxury brand of the Gucci Group, owned by the French holding company Kering, headquartered in Florence with world offices from Milan to New York. Guess ends the letter in denim: established in 1981 by the Marciano brothers, who left the south of France in pursuit of the American dream and, inspired by a European influence, redefined denim - an American clothing brand and retailer that also markets watches, jewelry, perfumes and shoes, with stylish apparel for girls, boys and baby sizes besides.

The G pages point readers onward - to the Gianni Versace and Giorgio Armani designer profiles, to the House of Gucci page in the names section, to the official brand sites, and to the other letters of this directory from A to Z - woven into the copy or listed under More to Explore. The letter grid below carries the 8 profiles in the directory's order, and the alphabet bar above carries the other letters of the women's brands directory.

Every profile in this letter gives the facts - founding years, designers, ownership and ranges - with shopping guidance built around them. Start with the name you came for, or read the letter whole: G holds two of the most recorded houses in fashion and two of its least recorded listings, and the directory treats both kinds with the same care.
