A flat lay of women's clothing and accessories from brands beginning with F - a tailored blazer, luxury handbag, sport clothing, leather boots and watches arranged together with a small Apparel Search shopping bag, product photography with no people and no mannequins

Welcome to the F section of the Women's Fashion Brands directory. In this area of the fashion brand directory you will find women's fashion brands from leading apparel companies and fashion designers that begin with the letter F: 10 brand profiles in all, gathered in the grid below. When browsing this directory you will find some of the most stylish clothing and hottest fashion labels in the world of ladies fashion - and in this letter, a cross-section that runs from a Nice tailor's atelier to a Massachusetts boot shop of 1863 without changing its initial.

If you know of an important women's fashion brand that begins with the letter F and is not listed in this section, please let us know. And if you prefer to search by clothing category rather than by a specific clothing brand, the Clothes Guide linked from this page organises the same wardrobe by garment instead of by name.

Ten Brands, From a Rue Paradis Atelier to Elm Street

The letter opens with Faconnable - founded in Nice in 1950 by Jean Goldberg, a master tailor's heir whose boutique-atelier on rue Paradis dressed the movie stars of the French Riviera in classic style with a twist; his son Albert took over in 1961, the women's line launched for America in 1995 and Europe in 1999, and Pepe Jeans Group took over management in 2016. Fendi follows from Rome: launched in 1925 by Adele and Edoardo Fendi as a fur and leather shop, carried by five sisters from 1946, directed creatively by Karl Lagerfeld from 1965, and a member of the LVMH group since 2001, renowned for fur and for the Baguette, 2jours, Peekaboo and Pequin handbags. Fila brings sport into the letter - founded in Italy in 1911, synonymous with performance and sophistication in premium Italian-styled fabrics, and owned and operated from South Korea since the 2007 Fila Korea takeover.

The middle of the letter is this directory at its most honest and its most various. Florsheim's profile carries no brand history at all: as far as Apparel Search knows, Florsheim does not currently sell women's shoes - men's and children's only - readers are invited to report otherwise, and its page keeps that statement at the top. Fossil is the accessories group: founded in 1984 by Tom Kartsotis in Richardson, Texas, owner of Relic, Skagen Denmark, Misfit and Zodiac among its brands, maker of licensed accessories for a long list of famous labels, and the name behind women's handbags, watches, jewelry and smartwatches. Frances Valentine is a designer's fresh start - Kate Spade, who left her namesake company in 2007, designing in New York with Andy Spade: shoes prototyped on a hand carved wooden last, two full days in every pair, and handbags custom-made to her exacting specifications.

Shoes, denim and the oldest names in American basics close the letter. Franco Sarto is a craftsman's biography: born in Dolo near Venice in 1949, apprenticed at fourteen hand-lasting shoes with hammer and nail, a design studio in Stra in his early twenties, a namesake line by 1990 and the premiere Sarto collection in 2015. Frankie B is premium denim with a measurement for a signature - Daniella Clarke launched it in the Los Angeles arts district in 1999, famous for the low-slung jean with a 6-inch rise, and it was acquired and relaunched as Frankie, without the B, in 2015. Fruit of the Loom reaches back furthest in the letter, to 1851 in Rhode Island, where Robert Knight adopted a trade name inspired by apples painted on bolts of cloth - a mark of a red apple, leaves and grapes that now sits on one of the world's largest makers of women's underwear, printable T-shirts and fleece. And Frye closes the letter where American footwear begins: John A. Frye's first shop on Elm Street in Marlboro, Massachusetts in 1863, a boot company that by its own accounts is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States, a member of Global Brands Group, with its Made in USA Collection as the craftsmanship flagship.

From this letter you can reach the Fendi definition entry, the LVMH group profile, the Kate Spade women's fashion brand Frances Valentine's designer left behind, and the other letters of this directory from A to Z - woven into the copy or listed under More to Explore. The letter grid below carries the 10 profiles, and the alphabet bar above carries the other letters of the women's brands directory.

Every profile in this letter gives the brand's facts - founding years, designers, ownership changes and licences - with shopping guidance built around them. Where no history is known, as for Florsheim, the profile is brief. Start with the name you came for, or read the letter whole: F is a letter of makers - tailors, lasters, bootmakers and a girl who painted apples - and it rewards browsing.
