Production and sourcing roles from A to Z — the E page of the category index
This is the E page of the Production and Sourcing category index, which files the category’s role descriptions alphabetically by job title. Three production roles begin with E: two belong to the embroidery workroom — the hands that sew the decoration and the desk that prepares its files — and one manages the making of garments across borders. Each role below links to its full description.

The Embroiderer operates the machines — and, in hand-work settings, the needle — that sew logos, crests and decoration onto garments: hooping fabric with the right stabilizer, setting threads, monitoring stitch-outs and finishing each piece. The Embroidery Digitizer is the workroom’s other half, preparing the stitch files those machines run — here with the emphasis on the production workflow: client artwork in, machine formats and run sheets out, sew-out approvals agreed with the embroiderers on the floor. The craft-and-software angle on the same role sits under D.
The Export Production Manager works at the category’s widest scale, coordinating garment production with overseas factories — critical paths, sample approvals, inspections, compliance files, export documents and freight — so orders made in one country arrive correct and on time in another.
Production and Sourcing covers the making end of the fashion business: pattern development, cutting, sewing and finishing, dyeing and colour, embroidery, sourcing and factory management at home and overseas. Descriptions are filed by the first letter of the job title; the letter bar above jumps to the hub’s section for each letter that carries roles — A, C, D, E, F, G, I, L, M, O, P, Q, S, T, V and W — and the hub lists every role on one page.
Three: Embroiderer, Embroidery Digitizer and Export Production Manager. Each is linked above with a full description of duties, skills, qualifications and career path.
The role is listed under both of its common titles. The Digitizer (Embroidery) page under D covers the digitizing craft and software; the Embroidery Digitizer page here covers the production workflow — formats, sew-outs and working with clients and embroiderers.
The Production and Sourcing hub lists every role on one page. From this letter, start with the Embroiderer and Export Production Manager descriptions.
