The Apparel Industry has many different types of labels. Some labels are directly attached to the garments and other labels are used for shipping or warehousing purposes.
Below are a few of the commonly used labeling options for the apparel industry.
Laser Cut Labels
Labels that are used on cartons or poly bags are typically "sticker labels". This means that they have a sticky substance on the back side of the label that acts as an adhesive to allow the label to stick onto the carton or bag. The garment labels are typically attached by sewing. However, some are attached by heat seal or other adhering method.
Garment labeling is also achieved by use of hangtags, size strips, etc. For example, a hangtag can be used to identify the garment with brand markings. Essentially, this alerts the consumer to the brand or label of the clothing.
Although it is not an actual label to be put on clothing, you may want to learn the meaning of an eponymous label. Fashion designers that create an eponymous brand do use garment labels with the name.
