Some nonwoven producers refuse to be one thing: the same group runs spunlace, spunbond, wet-laid and needlepunch lines and sells into hygiene, filtration, automotive and industrial markets at once. This directory covers those diversified producers and carries the listings this section holds for them.
Diversification in nonwovens is a hedge written in machinery. Bonding technologies rise and fall with their end markets — a hygiene downturn, an automotive model change, a filtration regulation — and a producer with several technologies can shift capital and sales effort toward whichever market is growing. The cost is complexity: each technology has its own fibres, spare parts, quality methods and customer language, and a diversified group must run them all well.
The product span below shows what that looks like in practice. Asahi Kasei Fibers Corp (Japan) is listed with spunlace, wet-laid and spunbond technologies making cleanroom, consumer and industrial wipes, artificial leather, filtration media and hygiene products; Ambic Co., Ltd (Japan) covers pressed felts, needlepunch fabrics and resin- and thermally-bonded nonwovens for abrasion, absorption, insulation and filtration. One company sells a wiping cloth and a battery-adjacent industrial web from the same directory paragraph.
Directory categories usually follow a process or a product; this one follows a company shape. Buyers use it differently — not to find the one specialist for a defined web, but to find partners with range: a group that can supply the coverstock, the absorbent core and the filtration layer of one product, or step in when a single-technology supplier's market tightens. Large converters and brands often qualify one diversified group across several of their product lines at once.
The listings are carried with each company's country and description as originally stated, and the descriptions repay reading in full: they record which technologies each group actually operated, which is the real content of the word diversified. A claimed range that appears in no listing description is marketing; a range spelled out line by line, as below, is a sourcing lead.
Ask which plant makes which web. A diversified group's technologies usually live in different factories, sometimes on different continents, and lead times, quality systems and minimum runs follow the plant, not the group logo. Qualify the specific line that will make your product, and treat the group's breadth as resilience — a second source inside the same contract — rather than as a promise about any single web.
The specialist directories in the chips — spunbond, spunlace, meltblown, needlepunch — list producers by single technology for comparison, and the wholesale directory lists distributors who stock several of these groups' products for buyers whose volumes do not yet justify a direct mill relationship.
A diversified listing compresses several businesses into one paragraph, so read it as a map: each technology named is a plant or a division, each application named is a sales team, and the order is rarely accidental — companies lead with the business they are proudest of. Cross-check the group's specialist presence too: a diversified producer serious about filtration will also appear in the filtration-led directories, and its absence from a category it claims is a question to ask on the first call.
Consolidation built most of these groups. The nonwovens industry spent decades merging single-technology firms into portfolios, and listings like the ones below preserve the strata: founding companies whose names survive as divisions, technologies acquired rather than built, markets entered by purchase. For the historian that is interesting; for the buyer it is practical, because the acquired division often keeps its own quality system, price list and habits inside the group — another reason to qualify the plant, not the logo.
79 companies and organisations are listed in this directory, carried from the original Apparel Search listing with each company's country and description as originally stated. Follow a name to the company's own website.
