Spunlace — hydroentanglement — bonds a fibre web with thousands of fine, high-pressure water jets, producing the soft, drapable, binder-free fabric behind most wipes and many medical textiles. This directory explains the process and carries the spunlace producers this section lists.
A spunlace line lays a carded or air-laid web onto a moving belt or drum patterned with the surface the fabric should take, then passes it under injector manifolds carrying water at pressures that can exceed two hundred bar. The needle-like jets drive fibres through the web and entangle them around each other — the same felting idea as needlepunching, executed with water instead of barbs, and without any chemical binder. The fabric that results is soft, strong for its weight, absorbent and free of binder chemistry, which is why skin-contact products prefer it.
Fibre choice writes the product: viscose and polyester blends dominate wipes, cotton serves premium and medical grades, wood pulp blends cut cost for household wiping, and microfibre-splitting spunlace produces the artificial-leather bases and high-performance wiping cloths at the top of the range. Apertured and embossed patterns — formed against the drum's surface — add texture, bulk and the cloth-like look brands ask for, and spunlace lines increasingly print or pattern the web in the same pass.
A.S. Nonwovens AS (Turkey) is listed for spunlace nonwovens in roll goods from polyester, polyamide, microfibre, viscose and bleached cotton, with technical specifications. BC Nonwovens SL (Spain) covers plain white, standard and custom-patterned hydro-embossed and apertured spunlace fabrics for disposable wipe, medical and industrial cleaning applications from viscose, polyester and polypropylene. Fortune Spunlace Technology Corp (China) appears among the Asian producers serving the same wipe-led markets.
Each listing keeps its original country and description. Spunlace capacity has globalised with the wipes market — the list spans Turkey, Spain, China and beyond — and the descriptions' fibre lists are the useful signal: a producer running bleached cotton and microfibre serves different products from one running pulp-polyester household grades, whatever the shared process name.
Specify the blend first — fibre proportions decide absorbency, softness, wet strength and flushability claims — then basis weight, thickness, and tensile in both directions, wet as well as dry. For wipes, the converting questions matter as much as the web: lotion compatibility, extractables, and whether the fabric must disperse in water for flushable products, a property engineered into specific pulp-based constructions and tested to industry protocols.
Spunlace rewards sample testing in the actual product, because hand-feel is its selling point and no datasheet carries it. The producers below supply roll goods to converters worldwide; the converters directory in the chips lists the firms that fold and pack those rolls into finished wipes, and the artificial leather directory covers the microfibre spunlace branch of the family.
Wipes dominate spunlace output, but the process's binder-free softness earns it other work: medical dressings and surgical fabrics that must not leave binder chemistry in a wound environment, artificial-leather bases buffed into suedes, interlinings that drape like fabric because nothing glues them stiff, and high-grade wiping cloths for lenses, screens and cleanrooms where a stray fibre is a defect. Several producers below list exactly those specialities alongside their wipe grades.
Sustainability pressure is reshaping the fibre mix faster than the machinery: plastic-free claims push blends toward viscose, cotton and pulp, flushable standards push dispersible constructions, and brands audit the forestry behind the pulp. Producers who publish their fibre sourcing, as the more detailed listings below begin to do, are answering the questions their customers' customers now ask. Buyers should ask the same questions early — a blend change late in development restarts every product test the web has passed.

High-pressure water jets — needle-fine streams at up to hundreds of bar — drive fibres through a web and entangle them, bonding the fabric with water alone and no chemical binder.
It is soft, drapable, absorbent and binder-free, so nothing leaches onto skin; viscose-polyester blends balance absorbency, wet strength and cost, and patterns can be formed into the surface.
Fibre blend and proportions, basis weight, thickness, wet and dry tensile, and product-level requirements such as lotion compatibility or dispersibility for flushable wipes.
