An air bra uses ultra-lightweight spacer fabric — a knit with tiny air pockets between its layers — to create a bra that feels barely-there while still shaping. The "air" is literal: thousands of micro-perforations let heat and moisture escape, making these bras noticeably cooler than traditional padded styles.
Air bras suit anyone who wants light shaping without weight: warm climates, long workdays, travel, or simply a preference for less bulk. The cups are usually molded and seamless, so they work well under t-shirts and smooth knits. Support is light to medium — excellent for smaller to average busts, less ideal if you need serious lift, since no dense padding or heavy structure is doing the work.
Check that the spacer fabric is genuinely breathable and that edges are bonded or laser-cut for invisibility under clothes. A wide, soft underband adds stability without wires. As with any molded cup, match the cup depth to your shape: gaping at the top means the cup is too large or too shallow, not necessarily the wrong size.
Air bras keep their loft longest when hand-washed and air-dried. Machine washing crushes the air pockets over time, and heat is the enemy — never tumble dry. Rotate between two or three so the fabric fully recovers its shape between wears.
