No-wire (wireless) bras build support from seaming, knitting, wide bands, and clever pattern-making instead of a metal underwire. Modern wireless designs — especially seamed and longline styles — support far better than the flimsy bralettes of the past.
Wireless is the choice for comfort-first days, sensitive ribs, post-surgical recovery, pregnancy, and anyone who has ever been stabbed by an escaping underwire. It is also ideal for travel and lounging. The honest limitation: without a wire to anchor and separate, very full busts may get less lift and more of a "uni-boob" profile from unstructured wireless styles — seamed wireless bras solve this better than molded ones.
Look for a wide, firm underband (this is doing the wire's job), seamed cups rather than single-layer stretch, and side slings or panels for forward containment. The band should be snug — wireless bras rely on it even more than wired ones. If the bra rides up or the bust migrates south by afternoon, the band is too loose.
Buy wireless bras in real band-and-cup sizes, not S/M/L, whenever possible. Alpha sizing hides a multitude of fit sins, and with no wire to compensate, precision matters.
