Demi — French for "half" — cups cover roughly half to three-quarters of the bust, cutting horizontally across to create lift and a rounded, uplifted shape with visible upper fullness. It is the classic "shelf" silhouette: less coverage than a full cup, more than a balconette's little sister.

Demi bras flatter small to medium busts beautifully, creating the illusion of fullness, and they sit perfectly under low, wide necklines — scoop necks, square necks, and sweetheart necklines. They are a favorite for date nights and any top where a full-coverage bra would peek out. Very full busts can wear demis, but may find less containment than a full-cup style offers; if you spill over the top edge, the cup is too small or too shallow.

Fit Is Everything Here

Because demi cups cover less, precision matters more. The top edge should lie flat against your bust without cutting in (quad-boob means size up in the cup) or gaping (size down or try a shallower cup). Wide-set straps are typical — great for broad shoulders, slippery for narrow ones, so check strap placement against your frame.

Wardrobe Pairing

Keep a nude demi for low necklines and a black one for evening. The horizontal cup line can show under very thin fabrics, so pair with slightly structured tops rather than tissue-thin knits.
