Cross shaping bras — sometimes called cross-front or wrap bras — use overlapping front panels that cross over the bust, creating gentle lift and separation without hardware, padding, or underwire. The wrap construction distributes support across a wide front panel rather than concentrating it.
These suit anyone who finds traditional bra architecture uncomfortable: the crossover front eliminates the center gore that can dig, and the wide panels smooth without squeezing. They are popular for lounging, sleeping, light daytime wear, and larger busts that want separation without an underwire. Support is light to medium, so they are not the choice for high-impact activity or heavily structured outfits.
Because there is no rigid cup, sizing is more forgiving — but the crossover point should sit at or near your natural bust apex, not inches below it. If the wrap gaps or the panels slide apart, size down. Look for a wide, stable underband; that is where the (modest) support comes from. Cotton-rich blends are best for sleep and sensitive skin.
The crossover front creates a pretty neckline under wrap tops and V-necks — lean into it rather than hiding it. Avoid under clingy knits if the crossover seam shows; a thin camisole over the bra solves that instantly.
