Welcome to the W section of the Men's Fashion Brands directory. In this area of the fashion brand directory you will find men's fashion brands from leading apparel companies and fashion designers that begin with the letter "W" - four brand profiles, chip-linked below in the hub's own listing order: Weatherproof, Wilson, Woolrich and Wrangler. W is the directory's outdoor-and-work letter in miniature: two weather labels, a leather house and a rodeo jean, all built for men who work and spend time outside.

The chronology in this record is the longest of any recent letter. Woolrich was founded in 1830 and introduced its Buffalo Check Shirt in 1850; Berman Buckskin, one half of Wilsons Leather, followed in 1899, and Wilsons House of Suede in the late 1940s - the same decade Blue Bell and Rodeo Ben created Wrangler Jeans. Wilsons sold its name, online store and 116 outlet stores to G-III in July 2008, and Woolrich was still adding lines in September 2013, partnering with Portland Product Werks to manufacture shoes.

If you know of an important men's clothing brand that begins with the letter "W" and is not listed in this section, please let us know. Four profiles cannot cover every W label in menswear, and a name-only gap in the directory is an open file that reader knowledge, sent through the directory's contact route, is how such files get completed.

The Four W Brands

Weatherproof comes first in the hub's order, and it is the letter's pure outerwear record: a leading brand name in outerwear founded by David Peyser Sportswear, its classic jackets offering maximum protection against the elements, its functional garments shielding against rain, wind and cold in technologically advanced fabrics, its traditional styles reinvented with modern details for a rugged appeal.

Wilson and Woolrich are the letter's two long histories, kept distinct. Wilson is Wilsons Leather, the U.S. leather retailer of jackets, belts, shoes, handbags and gloves, begun as Berman Buckskin in 1899 and Wilsons House of Suede in the late 1940s, and sold to G-III Apparel Group in July 2008. Woolrich is the oldest manufacturer of outdoor wear in the United States, founded in 1830 by John Rich and Daniel McCormick to make fabric for the wives of hunters, loggers and trappers, known worldwide for its black and red buffalo check.

Wrangler closes the four as the workwear record: an American manufacturer of jeans and other clothing, particularly workwear, owned by VF Corporation and headquartered in downtown Greensboro, North Carolina, created when Blue Bell took over Casey Jones in the mid-1940s and set Rodeo Ben to designing jeans for rodeo use - and known for more than 50 years for the 13MWZ, the Official ProRodeo Competition jean.

How to Use This W Hub

Start from the grid: it is the whole W section, each chip a full profile with its editorial links woven in or listed, its photos in a gallery where it has them (five photos across the letter, on all four profiles), and its official site in References where one is available. All four brands have an official brand route, linked on their pages.

The alphabet bar below takes you across all twenty-six Men's Fashion Brands letters, W unlinked as the current letter. Both pages of navigation above the grid - the Fashion Brands section page and the Men's Fashion Brands main page - are the routes upward, shown as the breadcrumbs and section navigation, so the W section is never a dead end: four brands down, twenty-six letters across, and the whole brands section above.
