Textile and clothing machine spare parts — what the part does, how to specify it, and the companies that supply it.
The rapier wheel is the drive wheel at each side of a flexible rapier loom that pays the rapier tape out across the shed and draws it back again, once per pick. The wheel's rim carries the form — teeth, pins or a perforated engagement — that drives the tape positively so the rapier head arrives at the centre transfer point at exactly the right instant, in time with shedding and beat-up. Because the wheel and tape work as one drive system, wear in the wheel shows up as tape damage, timing drift and missed weft transfers, making the rapier wheel a key spare in the rapier loom's parts set.

The wheel is driven from the loom's main timing so its rotation converts directly into tape travel: wheel diameter and the loom drive gearing together set rapier stroke and speed profile. As the wheel turns one way, the tape unwinds from its circumference, stiffened by the wheel's guide channel, and runs through the shed guides; reversed, the wheel winds the tape back in. Engagement must be positive and backlash-free — any play between wheel and tape is lost motion at the rapier head, and at centre transfer a few millimetres of error is the difference between a clean handover of the weft and a missed pick that stops the loom.
Wheel rims live in lint and size dust and take the tape's flexing load on every pick. Teeth or pins wear hooked, rim channels wear wide, and bearings develop play; each fault chews the tape it drives, which is why wheel and tape condition are always judged together.
Inspect a rapier wheel for hooked or chipped drive teeth, a worn or scored tape channel, rim damage, and bearing play, and check the tape for the matching damage pattern — uneven perforation wear usually traces back to the wheel. Timing is verified after any wheel or tape change: rapier entry, centre transfer and withdrawal are set to the loom maker's figures at hand-turn speed before production resumes. Wheels are ordered by loom make and model and by side, since the two sides are timed as a pair, and fitting a new wheel to a badly worn tape (or the reverse) wastes both parts. The supplier below provides replacement parts for weaving machines, covering the rapier wheel within its loom-spares range and its imported-parts supply from Germany, Italy and other countries.
Keep the wheel's tape channel clean as part of routine loom care: packed lint in the channel changes the tape's effective path and accelerates both tape and rim wear. When a wheel is removed, inspect its shaft and drive connection for play as well — movement there has the same effect on rapier timing as rim wear, and renewing the wheel alone will not cure it. Mark the timing position before removal wherever the design allows, so the replacement starts from the maker's setting rather than from trial and error at production speed.
Falcon Engineers (India) provides replacement parts for weaving machines, with the rapier wheel covered within its loom-spares range. Falcon manufactures and supplies spares for looms and autoconer machines, has developed many parts for textile machines, and also supplies imported parts from Germany, Italy and other countries — a useful route for rapier drive components. It offers high-quality, accurate products to the textile industry at affordable prices.

Missed weft transfers at the centre, tape perforations wearing unevenly or tearing, rapier timing that will not hold its setting, and visible hooking or chipping of the wheel's drive teeth. Wheel wear and tape wear usually appear together.
Only if the tape is genuinely unworn. A worn wheel damages a new tape quickly and a worn tape does the same to a new wheel, so the pair are inspected together and normally renewed together, then re-timed.
Treat them as a timed pair specific to the loom make and model, and order by side. Stroke, engagement form and timing marks follow the loom maker's design, so a wheel from another model will not time correctly.
